About Rancho Murieta
Rancho Murieta is an unincorporated census-designated place in Sacramento County, California. The town is part of the Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area, and has a population of roughly 5,500. A planned and gated community, it’s located about 25 miles east of Sacramento in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada range, and covers an area of approximately 12 square miles. Despite its close proximity to Sacramento, the area still maintains a charming small-town, country vibe. Rancho Murieta’s 3,500 acres are abundant with rolling hills, plentiful wildlife, lakes full of fish, and two 18-hole championship golf courses. The courses are part of Rancho Murieta Country Club, which offers some of the best golf to be found in Northern California.
Aside from golfing, there are a number of recreational activities and destinations available, such as tennis, fishing, bicycling, equine events, bocce ball, dog parks, community gardens, and a bustling farmers market. The 3,500 acres that make up Ranch Murieta also serve as a private refuge. No hunting is allowed, so the rolling hills are full of wildlife, and the lakes are teeming with fish. Just north of the township is Deer Creek Hills, a 4,062-acre open-space conservancy and working cattle ranch which offers dozens of miles of hiking, equestrian, and mountain biking trails. With an emphasis on preserving an unparalleled quality of life, Rancho Murieta continues to be one of the best kept secrets in Northern California.
