Whether you are an avid runner, someone trying out a new experience, or someone whose New Year’s resolution required some form of exercise, and running seemed to be the least complicated choice, we wanted to make finding the perfect marathon a bit easier. So here are a few marathons in a nice little list to make it easier for you to find the marathon you’ll enjoy the most, or in the case of the apprehensive racer – one you will hate the least!
2014 Sacramento Undy 5000:
The Undy 5000 is a family-friendly 5K run/walk that was created by the Colon Cancer Alliance. It is unique because participants are encouraged to run in their boxers to bring attention to the area affected by colon cancer. We have found that by getting people talking about this disease, we can save lives!
10th Annual Shamrock’n Half Marathon, 5K, and Kids’ Run:
With a little luck you and your closest running buddies will participate in the Sacramento area’s largest half marathon, 5K, and kids’ fun run! There’s no need to have Irish blood running in your veins to participate in the Blue Diamond Almonds Shamrock’n Half Marathon, 5K, and Kids’ Fun Run but you will need to register early.

Folsom’s 31st Annual Run with Nature:

Enjoy our unique 10k trail run that will take you on a rarely experienced course on the Folsom State Prison Property. There is something for everyone: 5k and 10k trail chip-timed runs, a non-competitive 5k walk, a ½ mile youth run through the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary and The Wild Way! AUBURN TRIATHLON- The World’s Toughest Half Marathon:
Come see why this is called the World’s Toughest Half. You will never know till you “tri.” The WTH is going back to it’s roots with one of two loops returning part way down into the beautiful American River Canyon followed by a second loop on the all time favorite “canal trail”. Depart from the bland routes with overcrowded fields and enjoy a true adventure into the Sierra. The ultimate athlete-focused, old school “must do” race! May 18th – Click Here for more details.
USAT Tri for Real and Tri for Fun Triathlons:
The TRI for FUN Sprint Triathlon began in 1983, and has been a relaxed triathlon for people who want to get fit don’t take the sport too seriously. The USAT Sanctioned Tri for Real Olympic-distance Triathlon was added to the TRI for FUN Sprint Triathlon Series in 2003. New this year are USAT sanctioned Aquabike events at each Tri for Real Triathlon. May 31st and June 1st – Click Here for more details.
