The rustic look for home decor is really hot right now, and for good reason! Mixing organic pieces made of natural woods with rusty metal adds depth and warmth to any room. We created this rustic gallery wall display for the area above our piano and instantly felt the room brighten up.
You can create this look in a single day by adding a few extra frames and wall decorations to your collection. If you’re starting from scratch, you can create this look for around $250. And, we’ll bet that if you’re thrifty enough, you can find some of these pieces around the house or at a yard sale to save some money.
How to Create Rustic Gallery Wall for Home
Everything you need to create this look can be found on Amazon.com or at a local craft store (like Michael’s). Here’s a list of all the items you need to get started:
Add an antique feel to your wall with this decorative skeleton key. This cast iron piece measures 14″ high, making it a perfect complement to the display.
This birch frame has an authentic antique look. The frame holds an 8 x 10 photo, but also comes in 5 x 7 and 4 x 6 sizes.
Add dimension to your display with these white square cube shelves. They are sturdy and match well with a rustic theme. They also come in black.
Made of rustic medal, this ampersand sign looks aged, which adds a nice touch to offset the white of the shelves.
No home wall decor is complete without a LOVE sign! This piece is perfectly customizable. It comes unfinished, so either add your own finish or leave as-is.
A puzzle piece says so much about both the challenges and rewards of raising a family. This piece is well made and accompanies a rustic theme well.
There’s nothing like a love note to remind your family how much you care. Make your rustic wall a fun place to stop by with this framed chalkboard.
Made from 100% reclaimed wood, this piece is both enviornmentally friendly and rustic. It comes with an unattached hanger so you can hang it any direction.
Nothing says rustic better than a mason jar. Decorate with seasonal flowers, candles, or just leave empty.
Light up marquee letters are a fun way to brighten a wall space. We had one on hand, but they can also be purchased online or at your local Michael’s craft store.
One of the biggest challenges we ran into when creating this look was spacing everything evenly and straight. We highly recommend an auto-leveling laser level to ensure your pictures are placed how you want them. They run about $25-30 and are worth the investment (especially if you just moved and plan on hanging a lot of pictures and decorations).
Good luck creating your rustic wall decor.
