Lake Appliance Repair Is Going Cashless

All across the world, things are changing for people and businesses alike due to COVID-19. This pandemic has forced us to re-think the way we work and do business, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. That’s why Lake Appliance Repair is going cashless for the benefit of our customers, employees, and our company as a whole.

What Does “Going Cashless” Mean?

This change means that our company won’t be accepting paper money for in-home repair services anymore. Businesses no longer accepting cash may seem like a radical idea, but there are many good reasons to support it. Here’s why we’ve decided to make this change:

Why Our Company Is Going Cashless

Paper money has become less and less popular over the past decade or so. Debit cards are now the most commonly used form of payment, and the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated this change. Cashless forms of payment are faster, easier, more convenient, and in today’s world, safer for consumers.

Our repair technicians follow strict social distancing and safety protocols during service. Making physical contact or being within close proximity to our customers could potentially put either party at risk. Handing cash off from one person to another is just one more possible avenue for spreading the coronavirus.

That’s why we’ve decided to only accept safer forms of payment that don’t involve as much person-to-person contact. After all, it’s well known that cash isn’t exactly the cleanest thing you can put your hands on…

How Dirty Is Paper Money?

Most of the cash in circulation today has been passed around for years. Between banks, businesses, and consumers, countless hands have touched every bill in your wallet. That makes it the ideal surface for spreading harmful germs and diseases.

A recent study found that close to 94% of cash in this country carries pathogens such as staphylococcus and E. coli. In fact, bills can often carry more germs than a household toilet. And paper money is also an ideal environment for viruses and bacteria. Most microbes live on surfaces for about 48 hours. On cash though, the live flu virus can live up to 17 days!

With the coronavirus still running rampant, our goal is to keep everyone as safe as possible by avoiding cash altogether.

Types of Cashless Payment We Accept

Our goal is to make paying for repair service quick, easy, and safe. That’s why our preferred payment methods include debit and credit cards. We accept nearly all major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. The safest method of payment we accept is Apple Pay which requires no person-to-person contact.

We are still accepting personal checks as well since they haven’t been touched and passed around like paper money. Going forward, we’re working to introduce new contactless payment options as well in keeping with our goal of safety and convenience.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding payment for appliance repair service, please feel free to give us a call! And above all, we hope you stay safe and healthy during these trying times.
