5 Fun Father’s Day Activities in Sacramento

Been wondering what to do for Dad this weekend? Check out our Father’s Day Itinerary for a full day of Dad celebration! Wake up for a Superhero Walk/Run at the State Capitol, dine at the area’s best restaurants, tour historic sites, and go on a train ride. This is a fun day Dad will surely enjoy!

Sacramento Superhero 5K 8:00 AM: Wake up the Superhero in Dad! It’s still not too late to register for the Superhero Run/Walk in downtown Sacramento. It’s a great way to start your morning—plus, you get to pretend to be a superhero! The race features comic book scenes at every mile marker, superhero music, and generous grand prizes for the best superhero costumes and the fastest runners. Stick around after the race for fun activities, an award ceremony, and live music. Get your tickets by Saturday and pay only $45.
Burgers and Brews 11:00 AM: Have Lunch at Burger and Brews. Burgers and Brews, located only ½ of a mile from the Superhero 5k finish line, is a delicious lunch destination. They carry a wide selection of microbrews, and they cook-up an amazing hamburger (or portabella burger for you vegetarians). Like it spicy? Try our personal favorite: the Diablo Fries (French fries smothered in spicy sauce and covered with melted pepper jack cheese and jalapenos. YUM!).
Sacramento Sightseeing 1:00 PM: Go on a Scavenger Hunt. Up for a challenge? Try Urban Adventure Quest’s smart phone guided Sacramento Scavenger Hunt. During the hunt you’ll spend around 2 ½ hours exploring 2 miles of the Capitol district. The tour is guided by 17 trivia questions that send you from one historic destination to the next. Stroll through the heart of the state’s Capitol, explore the city’s hidden treasures, and learn about historic Sacramento. Visit DownTownSac.org for a 20% discount!
Sacramento Train Museum 4:00 PM: Choo-Choo. After your long walk, relax on the California State Railroad Museum’s “Diesels & Dads” Father’s Day Weekend Mini Excursion. The entire family will enjoy riding aboard a vintage diesel locomotive on the Sacramento Southern Railroad. Ride in one of the comfy closed coaches or enjoy the open-air in one of the “gondolas.” Sit back and take-in the scenery during the 45 minute roundtrip ride along the Sacramento River. Purchase your tickets the day of train ride, or reserve First-class El Dorado tickets in advance at www.californiastaterailroadmuseum.org.
Downtown Sacramento Dining 5:00 PM: Enjoy dinner downtown at Fat City! Fat City is located just minutes from the California State Railroad Museum in an Old Sacramento historic building. You’ll love the downtown atmosphere, and thoroughly enjoy the fine dining. Their menu includes a wide variety of meals from hamburgers to pasta. They also feature a special kid’s menu. We recommend starting with an order of French Fried Green Beans! Check out their full menu here.

We hope you enjoy our Father’s Day Itinerary made in honor of all great Dads everywhere. Thank you, Dads, for all you do!
